INKE ARNS, AVANTGARDA V VZVRATNEM OGLEDALU (2006)
21.11.2006 | Knjiga raziskuje paradigmatski zamik v načinu kako umetniki reflektirajo zgodovinsko avantgardo vizualnih in medijskih umetniških projektov; analizira dve fazi oz. večji spremembi paradigem v umetniški recepciji in vrednotenju zgodovinske avantgarde v 80ih in 90ih letih.
Za novo recepcijo avantgarde, ki se začne uveljavljati konec 70ih in v začetku 80ih let s postmoderno, predstavljata pa jo takratna jugoslovanska retroavantgarda (Laibach, Irwin, Gledališče Sester Scipion Nasice, Mladen Stilinovič, Malevič iz Beograda) in sovjetski postutopizem (Ilija Kabakov, Erik Bulatov, Oleg Vasiljev, Komar in Melamid, kolektiv Skupinske akcije) je značilno odvračanje od dotlej vladajočega »naivnega« navezovanja k (prekinjeni) tradiciji avantgarde in interes za potencialno totalitarne elemente avantgarde . Razmerje avantgarde postaja ambivalentno in dvoumno, njene utopične predstave pa so zaradi videza združljivosti s totalitarnimi sistemi nenadoma tudi ogrožujoče in aporetične.
Za (dosedaj) zadnjo fazo spremembe recepcije avantgarde, ki se časovno približno ujema s koncem socrealizma v vzhodni Evropi okrog leta 1990 in na katero sta vplivali simultanost in vseprisotnost novih digitalnih medijev, pa je značilna drugačno razumevanje pojma utopije in izguba interesa za spoprijem z ambivalentnostmi, političnimi zapletenostmi in (potencialno) totalitarnimi dimenzijami umetniške avantgarde. V retroutopizmu, katerega predstavniki so, Marko Peljhan, Dragan Živadinov, Vadim Fiškin, se utopična misel avantgarde loči od svojega očitno negativnega, politično-totalitarnega priokusa, ter postane razumljena kot osvobajajoča ali vizionarska potencialnost. V umetniških projektih je sedaj mogoče opaziti fascinacijo nad zgodnjimi utopičnimi tehnološkimi fantazijami zgodovinske avantgarde in pomenom, ki ga le-te kot korektiv za sodobni razvoj tudi imajo.

O AVTORICI

Na Free University v Berlinu, Univerzi v Amsterdamu in Humboltu je študirala vzhodnoevropske študije, slavistiko in politologijo (doktorirala l. 2004).
