"...the performance is inspiring also due to the fact that it maintains contact with the theatre or performing arts tradition, which raises unusual questions, experiments with the principal theatrical dispositif (what is represented on stage, what is the relation to the spectators) and literally in the middle of the air's void carves a new universe." Delo (Jela Krečič)

"Nothing is left in the air in the performance: there's literally something in it, out of it and about it." Delo (Jela Krečič)

"Through the radicalisation of the theatre medium, the performance Something's in the Air doubles the biopolitical reduction of the so-called good life to bare life; to a life subjected to merely biological functions; to a life that can be excluded and discarded; to a life that is of no concern to any social or political or legal mechanism." Radio Študent (Robert Bobnič)

"To breathe and try to affirm life beyond the line between worthy and worthless. Thus the point is elsewhere: to breathe with the lungs of a swimmer or to breathe with the lungs of a smoker? The answer is probably clear." Radio Študent (Robert Bobnič)

"The principal premise of the structure of breathing in the performance is that regardless of eventual force, tension or drama, a breath never moves on to a word, to the said – in short – to what often comes most naturally and logically."
Dnevnik (Zala Dobovšek)

"Breathing becomes a readable component of a community, which may unintentionally denude an individual through tiny but intimate biological reactions whilst simultaneously revealing their belongingness." Dnevnik (Zala Dobovšek)

In a way, every performance deals with the question of ‘how to be together’. Essentially, the theatre is a situation aimed at creating a temporary community. Regardless of the type of theatre, a spectator always finds themselves in a certain community. This situation is even more noticeable at popular music concerts where a refrain can actually be a ‘call’ to sing – the singer stops and lets the crowd sing with one voice.

At a time when there is a crisis of representation, being together has become one of the principal issues for contemporary society, which evermore functions through temporary, fragmented, mobile and fluid bonds…

A group or community is considered in harmony when its members “breathe as one”. But how would a community literally breathing as one actually function? In the company of a person whose breathing is loud or noticeable, we soon realise that our personal line has been crossed and that we can’t resist the other person’s affecting us. Our breathing has to deal with a question: “To breathe as one” or to breathe one’s own way? A fundamental dilemma of an individual in a neoliberal society is how to maintain at least a minimum of social bonds in conditions where everyone is everyone’s rival.

Something’s In the Air only gives that which makes all of this possible. Something’s In the Air is an ode to the only thing we have in common – air. As long as we still have it!
