Miklavž Komelj

04.03.2008 | Miklavž Komelj holds a PhD in art history (with a thesis on 14. century Tuscan painting) from the Faculty of Arts, Ljubljana. As a theoretician and essayist, Komelj is engaged in different areas – the relation between art and the political in 20th century being one of his key research themes. Komelj devotes himself to art, particularly to poetry, first as a practitioner: he published four poetry collections (and one for children), he translated works of Fernando Pessoa, Passolini, etc. As a freelance artist, Komelj received the Veronika Award and the Jenko Award, and was awarded the Scientific Research Centre Gold Medal for his PhD thesis.
